PSY580.1 : Personality and Differential Psychology (at City University London)

Description:

One of the primary aims of the course will be to introduce students to the complex multidisciplinary issues involved in the diagnosis, treatment and understanding of mental illness and to help them appreciate how explanations posed at different levels of functioning (i.e. behaviour, cognition and neural functioning) are not mutually exclusive. The second part of the course will familiarise students with the concepts and background of differential psychology. The course will start by focusing on historical perspectives and theories of the assessment of intelligence, personality and cognition. We will then move on to look at various tests and how these are devised and evaluated. Prereq: PSY 205/209 and 3.0 minimum cum GPA. Taught at City University; NOTE:City U. has a different academic calendar, which has no mid-term break, and its time schedule is provisional until just before City U. classes start (late September in Fall; late January in Spring).
