PSY380.2 : Cognitive Psychology II (at City University London)
Description:
Topics addressed related to perception and attention include: theories and conceptual issues in visual and auditory perception; early views and elements of psychophysics; structure of visual and auditor systems; colour, depth and motion perception; pitch perception; elements of speech perception; patterns in visions and hearing; face and object recognition; historical development of theories of attention; mental chronometry, selective and divided attention. Topics addressed related to thinking and reasoning include: historical review of thinking and reasoning; issues in problem solving and logical reasoning; judgement under uncertainty; concepts of heuristics and biases; risk perception.
Prereq: PSY 205/209 (Foundations of Human Behavior) or an equivalent introduction to psychology course and 3.0 minimum cum GPA; fulfills requirements for
PSY 322 (Human Information Processing). Taught at City University; NOTE:City U. has a different academic calendar, which has no mid-term break, and its time schedule is provisional until just before City U. classes start (late September in Fall; late January in Spring).
