PSC300.2 : The Pale and Beyond
Description:
Ireland is an island divided. The six counties in the north that make up Northern Ireland are part of the United Kingdom; the remaining twenty-six counties make up the independent Republic of Ireland. The Pale and Beyond seminar, based in Dublin and Belfast, the two major cities in this divided Ireland, offers students a unique opportunity to explore whether a shared sense of being Irish can exist despite the long history of struggle and separation between the largely Catholic south and the largely Protestant north.
The Pale and Beyond is an intensive ten-day seminar experience. These credits will be included in the maximum 19 credits that you can earn for your London semester. Remember, you must enroll in a minimum of 15 credits for the semester. May also be registered as SOC 312.
