GRA345.2 : Visual Issues in the Media

Description:

View and analyze the power of media images: pictures, infographics, trademarks, and graphic designs - still and motion. Political influences of television, representation of minorities and women, and ethics of images, for practitioners and audience members. Syracuse TRF majors must petition to substitute for TRF 345. Prereq: COM 107 (Communications and Society). Limited enrollment: to be considered, students should indicate their interest on the application form and list it among the first five choices on their Course Request form. Enrollment priority given to Syracuse public communications majors. NOTE: Section 2 in the fall semester is intended only for students admitted to the Photojournalism and Graphic Arts Programs and may include an overnight trip to National Museum of Photography, Film and Television in Bradford (a $140 course fee billed from Syracuse for Fall 2006). Photojournalism graduate students register under PHO 609.
