FIB380.1 : Woven Design II
Description:
Further development of more advanced weaving techniques and designing skills are explored. Students have accesss to eight and sixteen harness looms and are challenged by more complex drafting and warping techniques, such as block design theory, double weave and various complex weave structures. Assignments with a conceptual emphasis encourage students to explore forms that reveal the inherent physical qualities and potential image-making possibilities of fabric. Specialization in a specific area of interest is also possible, particularly with students who have had more than two semesters of weaving.
Prereq: FIB 280 or equivalent. A course fee will be billed from Syracuse for basic studio supplies (2009-10 fee = $140). Students may need or want to purchase materials more appropriate to individual selection (such as specialty yarns and dyes).
Open to students admitted to the Studio Arts Program or by permission of the instructor and on a space available basis.
