PSC409 : The European Union

Description:

Creation and current workings of the European Union, including the beginnings in the post-war period. Functions and powers of the different institutions and how they cope with present policies and issues. Discussion of the relationship between the European Union, the U.K., the United States, and other powers. Having introduced the Euro, the EU has enlargement as its next key issue: Will new members undermine European integration, or are we at the beginning of a United States of Europe? May include an optional four-day field study tour to Brussels and Bruges with visits to the EU Commission, Parliament, and U.S. Embassy to the EU with the fee announced in London and payable with a credit card.
