ARC335 : Renaissance Architecture in Italy, 1400-1520
Description:
Architectural theory and design in Italy from 1400-1520, with a special emphasis on the humanistic tradition. Examines relationship of Early Renaissance architecture to classical and medieval precedents. Covers Brunelleschi, Michelozzo, Alberti, Francesco di Giorgio, Bramante and others. The course includes day trips to Pienza/Montepulciano and to Medici Villas and site visits in Florence. A course-related fee will be billed from Syracuse (2009-10 fee = $195).
