ECN481 : Introduction to Money and Banking
Description:
The course emphasizes the sources and uses of funds of financial institutions and the management of these funds. The relevance of these institutions to businesses, and to a lesser extent households, is discussed. Relationships between the financial markets and the real economy are examined, in particular the causes and effects of stock market crashes. Finally, the management of the economy by government authorities, especially the Federal Reserve, is considered. Meets with FIN 355.
Prereq: ECN 302 (intermediate macroeconomics) and junior standing.
