GRA345.1 : Visual Issues in the Media

Description:

Television, cinema, newspapers, magazines and advertising: this course views and analyzes the construction of media images and their cultural and political meanings. Reviews still and motion pictures, infographics and graphic design; the political influence of television and the print media; the representation of minorities and women; and the ethics of image production for practitioners and consumers. Syracuse TRF majors must petition to substitute for TRF 345. Prereq: COM 107 (Communications and Society). Limited enrollment: to be considered, students should indicate their interest on the application form and list it among the first five choices on their Course Request form. Enrollment priority given to Syracuse public communications majors.
