GEO428 : Auld Reekie: Scotland and the Road to London
Description:
This 11-day optional field studies seminar, taught on site in Scotland and England, examines the popular and elite cultural forms that organize life in Britain. Based in Scotland and Northern England, the 3-credit pre-semester course emphasizes interaction with local cultures and environments as students explore contemporary Scottish/English/British/European identities and discover how and why identity and attitude depend on where people live. Intensive program features guest speakers from a broad range of fields, academic and non-academic texts, investigative exercises, and daily critical and reflective writing. Limited enrollment. Meets with ETS 440.2.
