Architecture

As the fourth oldest school of architecture in the U.S., the Syracuse University School of Architecture has a long tradition of quality professional education in the design arts. A major feature of the Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) and Master of Architecture (M.Arch.I) Programs in Florence is the opportunity to enroll in six credits of design coursework each semester and participate in extensive field study to important architectural sites throughout Italy. There is also a wide selection of elective coursework available in art and architectural history specific to the Renaissance.

The Florence architecture program has its own studio facilities and review spaces at piazzale Donatello near the historic center. Study and design work is intensified by the presence of distinguished visiting Italian and European critics who join the faculty each semester for reviews and lectures. Final semester reviews bring still other Italian and European critics to the program.

To participate in the architecture program, students must have successfully completed third-year design.

NOTE: The B.Arch. and M.Arch.I programs in Florence are designed to serve matriculated students at the Syracuse University School of Architecture who have substantial background in design studio courses. Students from other schools are admitted on a space-available basis following submission of a portfolio of studio work.
