Fashion Photography in London

What You Need to Know

Build your professional credibility while you gain invaluable experience in the exciting global crossroads that is London. You’ll conduct fashion shoots at visually dynamic locations in and outside of London, and produce portfolio materials suitable for application to professional positions.

Courses

Students must enroll in the following two courses. The core course provides the foundation of knowledge necessary for students to develop their own creative agenda in fashion photography. The independent study course allows students to plan and conduct their own fashion shoots under the direction and supervision of the course professors.

Fashion Photography in London
(PHO, 500, 3 credits, undergraduate or graduate)

This course features lectures on the history of fashion photography and analyzes the work of some of its greatest innovators. Special consideration will be given to work that advanced the field of fashion photography through unique aesthetic, critical or technical means. Demonstrations of complex advertising, editorial and catalog shoots are included in this course. Ethics and critical issues in fashion photography will be discussed, as will issues of personal and professional business and career development. The course will also include visits to the headquarters of prominent fashion designers, modeling agencies, studios and magazines. Independent Study

(PHO, 490/690, 3 credits, undergraduate or graduate)
This course allows students to demonstrate their growing proficiency as fashion photographers through an intensive period of creative work. Field trips create unique opportunities for student shoots. A four-day field trip with the professors to a location outside London is planned. Evaluation of student work will be conducted in one-to-one and group critiques.
